Information

It is a high quality photograph with 100+ people, gathered (my elderly relative thinks) in Horsham Park. Several members of my mother's Lipscombe family, including my mother and 2 of her sisters are there as teenagers, so I would date it to about 1925.

Queries

Curiously there are far more women in the photo than men, and most of the men are standing well to the back. This suggests to me that it celebrates some sort of event organised by Horsham women. By zooming in on Photoshop it looks like a number of the ladies are wearing what appears to be oval identity labels.

I would be very grateful for any help in identifying the occasion for which this large group of people was assembled.
