Sussex Family Historian Magazine Logo

This is the members only quarterly journal of the Sussex Family History Group and is published in March, June, September and December. Members receive copies as part of their annual subscription.

The March 2008 Sussex Family Historian was placed Third (for 'larger' societies) in the 2009 Elizabeth Simpson Award competition held by the Federation of Family History Societies. This award is for the journals making the best contribution to family history.

In previous years' competitions the December 2006 issue was placed Joint Third, the March 2003 issue was Highly Commended and the September 2004 issue was Commended.
The editor is always pleased to receive interesting articles about Sussex local and family history, preferably between 500 and 2,500 words, and letters and news items. Please indicate whether your article has been published previously or if you intend submitting it for publication elsewhere. Then due acknowledgements can be given as appropriate.
Members Only: Submissions may be sent as an e-mail attachment (using the form below) or on disk (as a word document via mail, preferably typewritten). If handwritten please write names of people and places in block letters. Please give your name and address, and quote sources where applicable.
Also most welcome are illustrations to accompany your article, or for 'Picture Gallery'. These can be scanned (greyscale, 400dpi if possible) and e-mailed as separate image files, not embedded in a document.

Contents within the latest issues

Since 2011 members have been able to see online (pdf) versions of the Historian. However, if you are searching for a particular surname, you may want to consider purchasing the fully indexed USB memory stick containing all issues from 1973 to 2017 by using the "Indexed USB" button below.
