Helen has also contributed to Family Tree magazine's blog. Based on the books Posted in the Past and Posted in the Past Second Delivery, this talk reveals the true stories behind postcards sent in the early years of the 20th century. Using genealogy, Helen has researched the families to reveal their stories. Illustrated by images of some of the postcards, this talk shares some of those stories. |

** Cancelled** History of Portsmouth Dockyard**Due to the continuing Covid concerns this meeting has been cancelled** Supported by a fascinating selection of photographs Philip will traces some of the many ways in which the Portsmouth Dockyard has changed and developed over time. Starting with the dockyard built by King Richard I, he will cover such milestones as the building of the Victorian dockyard, the launching of the mighty HMS Dreadnought, which was built at the dockyard, as well as a tour of the yard and its naval role. Moving forward through the decades, Philip will also look at the impact of the two world wars, as well as the Cold War, before bringing the story up to date. Visitors are very welcome.
