Baptismal Index
The Sussex Baptism Index, which has been developed over the last 22 years, holds almost 1,700,000 records from 1537 – 1900.
The majority of the records are from Anglican parishes within Sussex, although the more readily available nonconformist birth events and some records of Sussex families from parishes outside of Sussex of which the Group has been made aware have also been included.
The Anglican records are virtually complete and about 30% have now been checked.
